EARLY CHRISTMAS FOR SCHOOL - 28/12/06

Two North Devon charities gave early Christmas presents to students at a special education school on Monday. The National Society for Children and Family Contact and the Old Coachman's Retreat Club (O.C.R.) donated £152, musical instruments and gifts to Broomhayes School, Bideford. The donations included a keyboard, flutes, a DVD player, radio and teddy bears.

Mike Ellis, chairman of the NSCFC and Paul Littlechild said: "The children were overjoyed with the presents. They sang to us and you could see the joy on their faces. We gave these particular gifts because music is a good form of therapy for children with special needs.

"We are hoping to raise as much as we can for the children at Broomhayes in the future."

Mike thanked local businesses and residents for their generosity.

The NSCFC has a 24 hour helpline on 08707 668596.
